REVIEW: All Fall Down (Helen Grace #9) by M.J. Arlidge

“You have one hour to live.”

The only words on the phone call. They hang up. A prank? Maybe. Scared? Definitely.

Someone is watching you, waiting for you, ready to take your life.

But why?

Finding the answer falls to DI Helen Grace and the Southampton MIT. But it’s a race against time to find the killer that always seems to be one step ahead…

When you’re up against the clock, an hour can last a lifetime.

Finally, Arlidge is back to his best!

I absolutely love this series but I have to say they petered off a little in the middle there. After being completely blown away by the first 3 instalments, the next 5 were somewhat below par. Never enough to put me off eagerly devouring each and every one, but there was just something missing. Well, no more.

This story is fast paced, and everything I have come to love about Arlidge’s writing style. It is dark, gritty, and had me saying that old adage ‘just one more chapter’ well into the early hours. I love a good thriller, but what makes this series work for me is the characters. Being back amongst Helen and the Murder Investigation Team is like picking up with old friends. I read these book as much for an update on their lives as I do for the gruesome killings.

These are always hard books to review as I never want to give too much of the story away. But I will say, if you are already a fan you won’t be disappointed and if you haven’t read this series yet…what are you waiting for?!
