Out of prison and on the run from a secret governmental sector called The Project, Asperger’s sufferer Dr Maria Martinez is hiding out in her Spanish villa. When her home is infiltrated and she is brutally attacked by an MI5 agent from her past she is forced to relinquish her haven and take to the road once more.
Making friends with genius hacker Chris and meeting up with some familiar faces along the way Maria is determined to reach her family and get them to safety.
But will they offer her liberation, or become her undoing?
As with its predecessor this story is also told across dual timelines, the first from an undisclosed confinement location where Maria is being held by an unknown person and the second counting down the hours until she is taken captive.
This second instalment introduces new character Chris, a super intelligent computer hacker, who is likeable straight off the bat. His relationship and interactions with Maria are funny and at times rather sweet and they offer a new insight into Maria’s world and her struggle with everyday situations. As the reader I felt a great fondness for the pair and they make for a great double act as their skills are put to the test when faced with The Project’s henchmen trying to catch them at every turn.
After finishing the first book I had a few questions and theories that I was pleased to find were confirmed within this story. However, I have no idea what might be in store for Maria and friends in the third and final part. All I know is that Owen will manage to fill it with as much suspense as the first two and I’m sure it’ll end with a BANG!
