REVIEW - Everyone Brave is Forgiven

18 days to read a book is extremely unlike me, although due to personal circumstances I was rather distracted and lacking concentration. However, I feel the underdeveloped storyline lent its own obstruction. The first half of this book had me interested, the latter not so much. The characters were flimsy and I felt no empathy for them even in the harrowing situations they faced. The ending was rushed and what little I had invested in the characters and plot felt misspent.

The writing itself was well done, if a little 'flowery' for my tastes. I found myself often skipping unrequired sentences to get past the padding and to the point. After being disappointed with The Other Hand by Cleave, I gave this novel a chance as it was based during WW2, a subject I find much more appealing. Unfortunately, I don't think this author shall receive a third chance from me, I believe his writing style is a little too abstract and thought-provoking for me to find enjoyable. * Many thanks to Sceptre, via NetGalley, for this ARC. *
