With Boris Johnson still in ICU it has been decided that tonight the nation will clap at 8pm to wish him well, just like most UK citizens have done every Thursday evening for the last 2 weeks for the NHS. Now, I should say here that I had no intention of joining in; the man is in intensive care in London, he isn’t going to hear me.
After only 2 hours of being up, I had already decided that I would be staying away from the socials today. Every keyboard warrior is out in force telling us why the Prime Minister doesn’t deserve our applause. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, Boris Johnson did not have my vote for PM. However, I think in the current situation he’s doing a stand up job. A job I highly doubt any of his election competitors could hand on heart say they would want right now. To me he is still a man, with a pregnant fiancé, who is very poorly and deserves some respect.
But I guess, everyone’s a politician!
Day 14:
Waking up showed a fairly grey day, and after a quick breakfast Mum was out to do a fortnightly food shop. Whilst she was gone I did the dishes and then sat down to write my piece from the weekend. When she returned she was filled with much excitement at managing to procure lots of vegetarian freezer items from Tesco. Unfortunately, there has been a real lack of this up until now, so it felt like a real treat. But the biggest joy of all came in the form of the vegetarian friendly Fizzy Belts from Aldi…for me anyway, Mum thinks they’re gross!
And so began my new 2-weekly task of arranging and organising the provisions. This time I decided to do the fridge, freezer and the cupboards (of course, all tins were facing forward) and I was extremely pleased with my efforts…it’s the little things!
Lunch was eaten, and a shower and some me time was enjoyed. I never thought it could be so gratifying to wash, blow-dry and straighten my hair. Even though I had no intention of leaving the house this slice of normality and looking smooth and sleek was pleasing.
Whilst Mum and Buddy went for their daily stroll I did the lunchtime dishes and then decided to dust off my playstation and dig out a game. I probably shouldn’t say ‘dust off’, I do use my PS4 quite regularly, although less so since I got my Chromecast for Christmas. But to my horror I hadn’t actually played a game since January 2019! Which, quite frankly, feels like a lifetime ago, but then so does being at work and that was only 2 weeks ago.
It takes a little while to get set up to play, because of how my bedroom is laid out sitting on the bed normally is too far away for me to be able to see all the little things I need to when gaming. A couple of years ago my Mum got me a bed backrest for Christmas, which was literally a life changer. Anyway, I passed a good 5 hours, of course there was some cooking and eating in between, trying to remember how to play the game before getting the knack of it when I was practically falling asleep…typical. I then got into bed and read for a little while before paying my daily visit to the land of nod.
And that's a wrap on week 2 in isolation. I have to say I still seem to be fairing pretty well. I’m not sure whether this is due to my love of reclusiveness or another personality trait, but I haven’t had a meltdown yet…here’s hoping my 31 years as an introvert are paying off now!
